Restless Hearts

20140325-202656.jpg

“Restless Hearts”

With the book wide-open,

I shared with the world how I was hoping

With my eyes open-wide as quick as a blink,

my heart got tattooed more permanent than ink

With my heart bubbling crimson-red spilling out passion

Monogamy speaks words of fashion

Robins whistling in the park
Two doves nesting after dark

Never knew life could be this fun
Two restless hearts beating as one

Taking in lucid lights of New York City,

Never realized a woman could be perfectly pretty

The love of God radiates through her face

Jesus knows I am in the right place

Looking through windows hanging on glass,

It’s time to fracture, fracture the past

I tasted this life so I ended up winning,

I am so thankful for another new -beginning

Journey sings “I get the joy of rediscovering you”

And the Lord my God makes all things new…

For this I am forever grateful

If my heart carried bonds, I hold a bank full

Amen!

Meet the Day!

20140324-203134.jpg

Paul McCartney woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across his head. Well…at least I woke up. The best part of waking up is not only sipping caffeine extracted from coffee-beans in my cup and the delightful aroma it dispels, it is a start to a brand-new day. Praise God!

Did your week start off wrong on Monday? Did you screw up yesterday? I did. I always do but I am given a new day each day for an unknown amount of time so I am grabbing each day like a cowboy grabs a bull by the horns squeezing every ounce of strength from each day.

Who cares about yesterday? Yesterday is over. Today is a new slate, clean and ready for your fill. A fresh-beginning. The birds are chirping, the air is still and is freshly loaded with tasteful oxygen.
Enough oxygen to feed this beating heart that pumps constantly looking to grow each day in relationship with my loving Lord Jesus Christ and expel constant joy, love, and peace among my brothers and sisters of this breath-filled world.

I remember my Statistics teacher and often his quote comes to mind from twenty-five years ago, when he said, “Consistency is the mark of an interesting mind.” If Professor Dr.Loeb is correct, my mind is interesting because I consistently fail at getting the most out of each day but TODAY IS A NEW DAY!

Failure stimulates greatness. When you look at yesterday and say I am not going to do that again and you give your new day a fresh shot in the arm and spring out of bed, greatness abounds!

What’s on the other side of failure and bad habits? Of course the answer is success and good habits. Part of success is living each day to the fullest, meeting responsibilities , enjoying life, starting over, and spreading love and kindness.

Get up! Jump out of bed. Face the day with great optimism. It’s a new day! Start over. Even if the morning was bad, you can make the afternoon good and the evening shine with a glow of freshness on your face radiating an attitude of “I did it. I made it a great day.” I can do it and you can do it too.

Don’t let anything keep you down. Ask God for strength and courage and as the Company Commander screams in boot-camp long before the sun even comes up…”POP TALL!!!!”

Jump up on the line, stand proudly. Stand with your back straight up and erect. Stand tall in the walk of life.
Do what the “Man in Black” Johnny Cash did. Walk the line with great confidence, optimism and the knowledge you are a child of the “King of Kings” and that alone my love is a reason enough to meet the day joyously shouting, “Bring it on, I am ready!” It’s a new day. Meet the day, meet today. This guy on a journey is ready, are you?

First Day of Spring

20140320-194508.jpg
Good news my friends. God has your back. He makes all things new.

The last day of a long, cold, hard winter is the same day as the first day of spring yet spring brings hope to all things. Things come alive, people smile more, the air smells better. Lover’s lush with spring-fever.

The Lord made all these things for us to live and live happily and abundantly while sucking up every ounce of joy.

Proverbs 20:12 says, “The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both.”

May your ears absorb the sounds of birds singing a new song and your eyes observe the green vegetation coming to life.

Whether you are young or old, when you are “new” you have an optimistic and happy outlook. Every day is a new day. I hope you are encouraged from this poem named “Refreshment” inspired by Springtime and the creator of spring.

•••Refreshment•••

Praise our awesome God, spring brings new life, I feel like I’m 19 years old

Sun bursting through every cloud, radiating energy silently yet loud

Propellers flashing ready-start, feeling like an enthused lad in a wooden go-cart

New Jersey refineries pumping gas,
lawns waking up to meet the grass

God promises to make all things new,
the perfect plan He already drew

Watch the colorful crayon, watch it playfully inscribe, representing love for every tribe

Snow melting refreshing the ground, birds chirping an encouraging sound

Tenacious roots infiltrate the soil, watching God’s plan show us we are Royal

Waking up to mountain-air grinning, so thankful for yet another new beginning….

Thanks for reading ya’all. Happy Spring. I love ya!

A New Bay

20140303-224932.jpg

A dark robe pounded the mallet, forgery delivered on a pallet

They dropped the rice it was carved from ice,

A new bay will dock, the sun will rock

Lightning will flash from the quiver,

trust the Lord, He is always good,

He is never late and He always will deliver

Watered Trees

Banked and snowed-in trees standing tall in calm-fashion for all 24 hours,

overlooking the reservoir they are erected as stemless towers

The Lord protects them, He protects them night and day, when the sky is radiating gold, even when it’s gray

For when it’s gray they receive their waters,

Throughout their stay they follow their nature-given orders

Watered every moment as per Isaiah 27:3,

sharing beauty to the eye revealing God’s gracious…glory

Giving shelter to the wayward mink, the trees do not worry for they will always drink

Are these trees thrilled with their 24 hour standing, every sparrow is seen as it comes in for a landing

Even if the sparrow falls to the ground

trees everywhere are to be found

Standing tall night and day,

Proliferated abundantly throughout the USA

If God waters all these trees

Doesn’t He hear us in every frustrated complaint when we say “Oh jeez!”

These trees shall never die of thirst,

getting revived with every glazed snowburst

Thank you Lord, thank you for your Word, give these trees company with a peaceful new bird

Darlings and starlings they may fly away

but these trees stand tall each and every day

More than Names

20140223-003033.jpg

Names are carried, projected on a wall, no one could predict those towers would fall

The worst of horrors could not envision this dreadful mess when these towers were erected

Reduced in steel and ash, peoples names live on, engraved and hauntingly reflected

With stolen names along the Hudson River,

hateful people had a message to deliver

Lives of many cut down and sold short, introducing warfare of a different sort

Hate helps no one, helps no one fast, hatred caused these airplanes to violently crash

Taking lives, taken wives, taken fathers and men

They cannot take our spirit for that there is no end,

Resiliency and brilliancy, America will not lose,

this is the life we live, it is freedom that we choose

God bless America and every precious person dwelling inside of it, regardless of religion, race or creed

Christian, Jew or Muslim, allow love to identify your breed

These angels fly forever, forever on a wall, allow these names to remind us, we need to love everyone and all

The deed was done, it was cruel, dirty and rotten, but let these names not die in vain by sharing love, and they’ll never be forgotten

God bless our country, bless the north, south, east and west,

Give us love, give us peace, and give these families rest

A Candle Lit

20140220-172513.jpg

10 degrees the other day 55 today,
I knew the sun would be shining bright, thank you Jesus for the light

Sometimes we just need to wade through the storm, other times we need to mend the rags that are battered and torn

It’s a tough war out there I have the battle scars to prove it,

yet with grace upon me, my candle always stayed lit

Sometimes it flickered, friends and family randomly bickered

For a few minutes it lost it’s glow,
betting on the wrong horse with one to win…two to show

No more themes from ice castles releasing chariots of fire

A sapphire ring has a brand-new buyer

Soft yet pliable turns her platinum, burning exercises to release the fat in him

An ectomorph runs, he runs amazingly fast,

sinking the line with every cast

The seed is planted, planted for oats,
with a heart bigger than China he quietly gloats

The unity candle gently burns,
celebrating many faithful yearns,

Handled with love, handled with care, it was all worth it, for the life they share

Moon Glow

20140216-212654.jpg

Seger takes the old records off-the-shelf
sooner or later the snow does melt,

on a Feb night the moon hangs mysteriously low,

the light bounces off her light skin, reflecting a brand-new glow

Moonlight passing through the leafless trees

The only thing missing are the bird and the bees

Rockets flaring across the calm,
Lips glossed, including balm

Sing with me, sing a Psalm

I will sing, sing a new song

Love shining through all along

Some would say twist of fate.
Me, I say never too late.

A Proud Message

Earlier in the week, my spirit told me to text a friend a Bible verse. My pride in this particular situation said no. I am not willing to do it. I have not heard from this guy in well over a month and I sent him a text-message six weeks ago with no response.

I said to myself, I will text a verse to my daughter but not to James (name changed). So I went to my daily Psalm/Proverb app and opened the verse of the day. Sure enough it spoke to the situation at hand.

Look at the verse of the day

20140215-222457.jpg

Wow! That verse (God) spoke to me in a big way. An instant word from God on pride. I swallowed my pride and sent it right away to James. The funny thing is James previously disclosed to me that he suffers from pride so I knew this verse would serve him well and that is why out of the blue I was told to send James a verse.

The verse spoke directly to the both of us. I know, I know. Many people think that this is a coincidence. I tend to think not.

James immediate response was, “Dude, great verse. Needed that.”

If you ever receive a Bible Verse from just a guy on a journey, I hope it is one that you need at the moment and it serves you well. I love ya, thanks for reading!

Wheel in the Sky

20140215-175229.jpg

“Wheel in the Sky”

Wheels on fire, wheels on a chair, every day he climbs another stair

Another stare is yielded, another puck is fielded

Journey sings about the wheel in the sky keep on turning, where will it be tomorrow

Tomorrow? I am still thinking about today.

Marching forward in a glitzing storm,
were we really born to run?

The company-commander marches his men left-right-left

If your heart is stolen can you charge one with theft?

Big wheels keep on rolling, sometimes they leave the ground, and in the end, love is found
