Rotting in my backyard compost pile a cardboard egg carton carries a message.
Imprinted in scripted blue ink a Bible verse clings to the inside of the biodegradable carton reminding me, “This is the day that the Lord hath made let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24.
Containing carbon, cardboard is good organic matter for a compost pile for gardening purposes so I toss in an egg carton containing God’s Word knowing it will enrich my soil.
Beside the nutrients it provides for my plants and trees, laying on the top of the heap it serves as a reminder to rejoice and it makes for a simple prayer to start my day.
Coffee and a mushroom omelet grace my morning table. My wife and I pray before each meal in my household and this morning’s prayer was simply “ This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it and thank you for our blessings and thank you for this day.”
Short and sweet and a great way to start the day.
Whether it’s cold and rainy, or warm and sunny, remember, this is the day that the Lord has made. Let’s be glad in it. Let’s rejoice.
If you are having a great day…great! If you are having an off day, that’s ok too. The day was created for you, let’s rejoice in it.
Paul writes in the book of Phillipians to be content in all situations.
As to my garden, I believe my plants will be well rooted this year in Good soil.
